International Day of Forests and World Water Day 2024

On March 21, our school implemented a unique project dedicated to celebrating the International Day of Forests and World Water Day. II4 and I1 students participated in it, together with their biology teacher Slavica Ristić. Guided by the slogan “think globally, act locally”, the story of forests was directed towards our Vršac mountains and Mali Rit, which from 2023 were jointly declared PIO – Area of exceptional qualities, category II, pointed out the presenters of the program Sara Milošević and Djordje Stojkov.

The entire event was held in the School’s Student Club, where in front of the gathered participants, a display of photos/posters/drawings of the most important plant and animal species as well as mushrooms from our area could be viewed. Many of them are original pictures of students from the field, while the drawings are the work of the talented Lana Jovanović. On the tables where the students were sitting, there were texts with important information about forests, as well as bottled water, pointing us to the second mentioned important date (March 22 – World Water Day) and the fact that without water there is no life.

Pupils Milica Miladinović, Ivana Milošev and Nevena Filipović, according to the topic covered, prepared a quiz, which they ended with an association game. The association’s solution was CHERRY, in accordance with the eco slogan and with the task of pointing out that wild cherry grows naturally on our hill.

The realized project contained a specific tribute to World Poetry Day (March 21), as well as World Down Syndrome Day (also March 21). Vojin Mitrović recited a poem about forests that he wrote for this occasion, Milica Jovanović presented a work on a topic related to people with Down’s syndrome. The atmosphere was exceptional, the students wore “something green” as a form of support that day, they cooperated and socialized nicely. Special thanks to Jovan Rudnjanin and Andrej Mandić for event coordination and technical support.

World Poetry Day 2024

World Poetry Day is celebrated on March 21 and was established by UNESCO in 1999. The purpose of this day is to promote reading, writing, publishing and poetry in schools around the world; but also “giving new incentives and recognition to national, regional and international poetic movements”

Vršac high school students celebrated this day inspired by the poetry of great poets and world Nobel laureates.
