Our school celebrated World Food Day on October 16, which, among other things, is dedicated to raising awareness about healthy food. In recent times, education about healthy eating and about which food is good and which is harmful for our body has increased. Accordingly, our students designed and implemented a program dedicated to this area. Students I1, II2 and II4 attended the realization of the same.
In the introductory part of the program, students of class I1, Olga Rajković, Sara Bugarski and Ivana Bogavac, stated that this day is celebrated all over the world, that this year’s slogan is “Water is life, water is food – let’s save every drop”. For the sub-topic of this meeting, they chose to talk about – the proper nutrition of teenagers and athletes, since among the present students there were also students of class II2 (a class for students with special abilities for sports). Our physical education teachers Radmila Mandić and Igor Santrač followed up on the story. Apart from the mentioned topic, the professors also talked about their experience in practice, about working with athletes, or. to the students of the sports department.
The central part of the program belonged to dr. Rajni Dušanov, spec. hygiene and nutrition. She talked to the students about the food pyramid, she commented on it, with her advisory approach she encouraged the students to ask her questions and to share their experiences with her. She rounded off the story with a unique message, “I eat to live, and I don’t live to eat.”
At the end of the program, students and guests were served apples, which were there to symbolize a healthy way of eating.
We would like to thank everyone, students, guests, coordinators of this entire event, prof. Slavica Ristić, as well as the student Jakov Radek (I1) who technically supported the celebration of this day.

European Day Against Trafficking in Human Beings
In cooperation with the Vršac Red Cross, our school celebrated October 18, the European Day against Human Trafficking. The lecture was delivered by Red Cross volunteer Davor Gašparević, and was attended by classes II3 and III2. The story was completed with the workshop “What if – if it were” and answering questions that are current and related to the topic.
Human trafficking is a type of modern slavery and a global problem that affects not only countries in the phase of economic and social transition, but also industrially developed countries. Individuals profit from human trafficking through the control and exploitation of others. Estimates show that traffickers earn between seven and $60 billion annually.
Victims of human trafficking can be women, children and men forced, tricked or induced into prostitution, as well as any other form of work or services, such as workers kept in houses or farms forced to work against their will. The common factors in all situations of modern slavery are the elements of force, fraud and coercion, which are used very perfidiously, and often subtly, for the sake of controlling people.
Visit of the Student Union
During the last week, the Union of Students from Vršac came to visit us. President Anita Kiš and her colleague Dragana presented this organization, emphasizing the following:
The Vršac Student Union is a youth organization, it has been a friend of our city for many years, and it recently celebrated its jubilee 10th birthday!
She has opened her sector for high school students for 6 years already!
“High school students have always represented the necessary driving force, and if it weren’t for them to be a wind at each other’s backs, we wouldn’t have been able to achieve all our success so far,” the president emphasized.
Precisely through that long period of 10 years, US members managed to deal with an extremely wide group of topics, from sports, music, to educational, humanitarian and cultural.
Their most famous event is the so-called “Unijada”, and they are also known for the humanitarian concert for Magdalene’s treatment, where Marcelo and Sergej Ćetković sang, the event exceeded all possible expectations!
Today, this young group of people continues their work diligently, and as part of that, the competition for new participants has come!
